Senior Village serves all residents of SaddleBrooke. You may not need us today, but "surprises" happen. With your support, we'll be here down the road when you could use a helping hand from your neighbors.
Our members tell us that the Senior Village lets them live more independently without having to ask their neighbors for help with simple tasks or errands. Members' families appreciate having the Senior Village here to help take care of their loved ones. Peace of mind is one of our services!
Dues for calendar year 2019 will be $48 for an individual and $60 for a couple (household). As a member, you will have access to all our services (6 per month or 18 per quarter). Whether you need a ride to the doctor or grocery shopping, a loan of medical equipment, help with a simple task around the house, or a friendly call or visit, just give us a call at 520-314-1042 and leave a message (any time 24/7). We can usually get back to you within a few hours. Additional services may be added in the future as we learn more about your needs.
All our services are performed by volunteers, and since there is no office, there is no rent, but there are LOTS of expenses we must cover. Insurance alone costs a small fortune. It would cost a large fortune if we did not do background checks on all our volunteers (another major expense). Then there are expenses for the telephone, office supplies, web hosting, and software to name a few. In brief, the Village is a labor of love, but love doesn't pay the bills!
To Become A Member
Please contact our Membership Coordinator at 520-314-1042 and leave a message. If you prefer, fill in the form below and send an email to our Membership Coordinator. You will be contacted for an intake interview, and your services can then be scheduled. Our goal is to keep the dues as low as possible while still covering our operating expenses. Dues will depend on the amount of financial support the we get from the community -- great so far, thank you!
Senior Village Services Available To All Members
-
Going My Way - Transportation - We drive members to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other nearby errands. Our primary service areas are Catalina, Oro Valley, as far south as Northwest Hospital, and occasionally further.
-
Helping Hands - Around The House and Yard - We're not plumbers, electricians, or landscapers! However, our volunteers can help with many simple things like loose hinges, computer support or replacing refrigerator filters. Please click HERE for a more detailed list of what we can and cannot do.
-
Friendly Contact - Personal phone calls and home visits help members stay in touch and socialize. You may also enjoy the loan of audio book players for hands-free listening pleasure. A Village volunteer will help you set up the audio player and choose books.
-
Fun With Friends - Monthly activities provide opportunities to meet new friends and enjoy interactive participation. Choose from these lively events: monthly birthday lunches, bingo, bocce, golf putters, book club, Men’s Social Hour and more. To attend, call the Village at 520-314-1042. Click HERE for more info on our activities.
-
Residential Lockbox Installation (Golder Ranch Fire District) - Lock boxes provide safe, secure and rapid access for 911 personnel in an emergency in case you cannot get to the door to unlock it. Everyone should have a lockbox. There is a $65 one-time charge paid to GRFD.
-
Moving On - Our most recent program, Moving On, was developed to meet the needs of members as they consider transitioning from SaddleBrooke. This team will provide resources to assist the members as they work through the process of finding and choosing a long-term care residence and the eventual packing and move that can, at times, seem daunting. More information is available HERE.
-
Medical Equipment Loan Program - There are already many programs and services available from other groups and organizations. We'll do our best to help you find what you need. Working with our partners at the Community Church (825-5394), we'll be helping our members access their short term loaner program. If you cannot make it to the church offices, we'll take you there to get the equipment.
Some Things We Cannot Provide
-
Respond To Emergencies - In a real emergency, dial 911 and let the trained professionals handle it!
-
We're Not Medically Trained - So we cannot diagnose or treat illnesses or handle medications.
-
We're Not Licensed Contractors - For major repairs, you need to hire a licensed plumber, electrician, etc.
-
We Don't Do Ongoing Tasks You Can Hire Folks To Do - Our volunteers are happy to help out, but they do not want full-time jobs as landscapers, house cleaners, cooks, or whatever. You'll need to hire somebody to do this (we can help you find a reliable contractor).
